Kids are available for pickup when weaned at approximately 8 to 12 weeks of age. They will be disbudded, and be tattooed. If you choose to have a goat that is not disbudded then full payment before 5 days old is required. Hooves will be trimmed prior to pickup. An acceptable pickup date will be coordinated with the prospective buyer within the time frame of the kids being weaned and ready to go. If the buyer needs to change the original coordinated pickup date, and unless modified pickup arrangements have been made and agreed to within 7 days of the original agreed to pickup date (such modified date to be no later than 30 days from original agreed upon date), the prospective buyer forfeits their reservation along with their deposit. If the new coordinated pickup date falls after the 7 day window, the buyer will need to pay a fee of $8 a day starting on the first day after the 7 day grace period (8th day) until a newly agreed-upon pickup date is established. This fee is nonrefundable, and is to be paid immediately upon agreement of a new date agreement (which cannot be more than 30 days from original date). If no modified agreement can be made within a 30-day timeframe, then the prospective buyer forfeits their reservation and all monies, including fees and deposits. Goat kids will then be retained, or put back up for sale to new prospective buyers. On pickup day, we expect the buyer to give us updates about their ETA, we expect updates due to potential traffic or other issues during your travels, and we will do our best to work with the Buyer regarding traveling issues. However, if the buyer were to “no call, no show” on the day of pick up, they automatically forfeit their reserved goat(s) and any and all moneys paid. We will wait no more than two (2) hours past the arranged pickup time. The payment of the balance owed is due before, or on the day of, pickup. If the Buyer is requesting a wethered buckling, then full payment for the wether is required a week prior to the castration date, and is non-refundable.
All goats and kids on Chicken Harte Homestead are well cared for. For any goat or kid purchased, the purchaser has a right to have the goat or kid examined by a Veterinarian on the premises of Chicken Harte Homestead at the purchasers’ expense. If this is desired, an agreed to time will need to be coordinated with us. If the Veterinarian determines the goat or kid to be unsound based on any medical reasons found during the exam, deposits will be refunded if the purchaser no longer wants to go thru with the purchase.
Once the purchased goats/kids leave our property, we are no longer responsible for their health and welfare since we have no control over their care once they leave the farm.
